POPULAR (The Peri-Operative Professionalism United Leadership And Resilience)
02/07/2018 @ 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
FreeDear Anaesthetic, Emergency Medicine and Surgical Trainees,
After the success of the POPULAR course in January, I am pleased to announce that the POPULAR (The Peri-Operative Professionalism United Leadership And Resilience – POPULAR) workshop for Anaesthetic and Surgical Trainees is running again and open for registration.
This unique one day event has been designed specifically for higher trainees working in the field of anaesthetics, emergency medicine and surgery to develop their leadership, management and innovation skills. Facilitated by experts within the field, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills and work collaboratively with your colleagues throughout the day. Please see the provisional programme attached.
This course will demonstrate that you have additional leadership and management skills when applying for consultant applications in comparison to the majority of trainees who have completed the ‘tick the box course’ only. Moreover, the development of non-technical skills is becoming a larger part of both curricula and this course will undoubtedly improve your portfolio and skill base.
Key Details
Event: POPULAR workshop
Date: Monday 2nd July 2018
Time: 08:00-18:00
Venue: Deakin Centre, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge
Given that there are limited places and the course is free, if oversubscribed then a 100 word pitch may be necessary to successfully secure a place on this Interdisciplinary workshop. This is will be a meritocracy as opposed to a seniority based application, as we wish to encourage multidisciplinary teamwork from an early stage in your careers.
If you wish to attend, please email Jamie Biggs by (5pm, Friday 27 April 2018)providing your grade and specialty.
We shall inform applicants of their success by (Friday 11th May 2018).
I would suggest registering your interest and then applying for study leave in advance of finding out whether you have a place as you should be able to cancel your study leave request if necessary.
Kind regards,
Jamie Biggs
