Professional Support and Well-Being Service (PSW)

Dear All,

We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the services offered to all trainee doctors and dentists who are working in the East of England. We have an excellent Professional Support and Well-Being Service who can offer guidance and support at any point in your training.

The East of England Professional Support Unit offers a range of services and these can be found below;

  • Psychological support services
  • Coaching and Mentoring
  • Careers support
  • Exam support
  • Specialised occupational health services
  • Communication skills support
  • Emotional intelligence testing

Please follow this link for further information on the support available and or for National Support Services

To access these services, we will require a referral form to be completed. If you feel you would benefit from any of these services, please discuss with your Training Programme Director or Educational Supervisor to ensure a referral is made.

The Professional Support Unit are always happy to have a phone call conversation (01223 597736) or drop us an e-mail at PSW.EoE@hee.nhs.uk if you’d like further advice or guidance.

Kind regards, Katie

Professional Support and Well-Being Service (PSW)

Support from Mr Johnston

As part of the pastoral support that the HEEoE offers all trainees, please see above about the PSW.
This should not be seen as a negative entity, or some “black mark” against you, as the majority of trainees who benefit from the (varied) support this service offers have gained much from their experience.
Referrals need to be sanctioned by (and therefore in the knowledge of) the TPD (and often your AES) but the results of any meeting(s) are confidential unless you choose to share them. So while people may be referred e.g. after an ARCP or other reflective event, the PSW will support them until a satisfactory conclusion has been reached without any feedback to your supervisors.
Best
