SICOT 2018 Preliminary Programme

Preliminary Program

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the SICOT Board of Directors and the Congress President, Dr Julio C Fernandes, it gives me great pleasure to welcome every single one of you to the 39th SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress to be held from the 10-13 October 2018. This is the second time the Congress has been held in Canada, and we are thrilled to be going back to the beautiful city of Montreal.
We are expecting upwards of 4000 participants to share in the exchange of expertise from both high- and low-tech orthopaedic surgery environments, and hope to engender an ethos of openness to learning from one another, no matter how
different our backgrounds.
We have been busy planning a diverse and thought-provoking programme. Over the two and a half days there will be over 50 instructional symposia from practice and research leaders as well as sessions from our partner societies. There will be space and time for discussion and participation, and we hope you will enjoy engaging in the topics. In addition, there will be around 40 free paper sessions, ten short free paper sessions and three plenary lectures from fantastic speakers: Dr Mohit Bhandari (Canada), Dr Alex Vaccaro (USA), and Professor Timothy Briggs (UK). Finally, we have planned an Educational Day for trainees, taking place the day before the conference begins on 9 October. This year the theme for the day will be ‘The Knee’ and the SICOT Diploma Exam will be available to take on the same day. We have also introduced a Knee Cadaveric course for the rst time which will run everyday. We are con dent that over the course of the three and a half days there will be something to whet everyone’s appetite!
Personally, I am looking forward to welcoming you all to what I believe will be our most enriching and stimulating Congress yet. It has been a joy to bring this programme together and the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal feels like the perfect place to hold this participatory event.
Very Best Wishes
Vikas Khanduja
