East of England Trauma & Orthopaedic Registrar Teaching Session

Thursday 3rd November 09:30am

Spine, Shoulder and Hand

Deakin Centre, Cambridge University Hospital

Dear Alldeakin-2
We are all really looking forward to seeing all the trainees gathered in one place for teaching! it’s also an opportunity for the trainees coming off the rotation to meet, advise and listen to the other trainees.
Here is a brief outline for the format of teaching on Thursday November the 3rd for so you will have an idea of where to go and what’s expected.

The focus of the day is to appreciate the history and examination skills needed for the FRCS orth and also the viva level required too. Much of the focus will be towards the ST 6 and 7’s with their FRCS Orth in mind but all grades may be quizzed at a suitable level for them. The teaching session we hope will therefore be useful to all.

The session is held at the Deakin centre on the Addenbrooke’s site commencing at 0930 with a brief introduction of the days events.

  • Spine teaching – Mr. L. Lutchman – 1000 – 1200
  • Shoulder teaching – Mr. N. Kang – 1230 – 1430
  • Hand teaching – Mr. P. Johnston – 1500 – 1700

Refreshments & lunch will be provided.

Parking can be difficult and unfortunately the closest parking is on site in the multi-storey car park. There is very limited street parking on Holbrook road, which also involves a 10 minute walk.

If you are attending following nights please do not think in your circumstances this is compulsory, your safety and health is far more important.

I would advise sharing lifts with your colleagues to keep the costs down and come dressed as you would do for work as their will be patients.

Afterwards there is a choice of refreshment sites, the Frank Lee centre (possibly over come by the numbers and there is a small entrance fee), the green man (nice food), the med (wouldn’t recommend), or the closest The Queen Edith Public house (which I have never been to).

We all look forward to seeing you and we hope you find the day useful and challenging.

Best Regards

Jai Rawal
