Dear Colleague,
The BSSH are initiating a new trainees’ (Registrars’) day prior to the Autumn meeting on Wednesday 8 November at The Princes Room, The Principle Edinburgh George Street Hotel, 19-21 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PB, commencing at 12:00pm, to allow persons to travel on the day. If successful, we may repeat it. The aim is to allow more trainees to present papers and receive feedback, have talks directed specifically at their needs and provide an opportunity for trainees with an interest in hand surgery to meet in a smaller group. There will be a session before lunch and an afternoon session culminating in what we hope is an amusing and informative final half hour. From 6 – 7pm, there will be a drinks reception for trainees, speakers and Council members.
We are planning talks on clinical problems but also non-clinical topics such as how and where to apply for a consultant post, tips on what to do and not do in your first few years as a consultant, how to write a scientific paper etc. If you have any burning ideas on what you as a trainee would like to hear, please let the secretariat know. We will try to incorporate them.
A minimal cost of £30.00 for the day (including lunch and refreshments) is being made to ensure that people only sign up if they really wish to attend. I do hope many of you will be able to come and stay for some or the entire main BSSH Autumn meeting.
Online registration will open at 9:00am on Tuesday, 15th August 2017.
Numbers are limited to 45 persons so please book early to avoid disappointment.
