Dear Trainee

We are beginning the enrolment for the 2018 entry into the Imperial College MSc in Surgical Innovation.

Core modules

  • Principles of surgery
  • Surgical education
  • Leadership, safety and quality improvement.
  • Technological innovation

Then choose a speciality module from

  • Bariatrics
  • Colorectal surgery
  • Oesophago-gastric surgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • Trauma management
  • Vascular surgery
  • ENT (new this year)
  • Transplantation (new this year)

Plus you will complete both a library dissertation and research project either of your own creation or from the many we will offer. It is taught part time over 2 years designed to fit around your surgical training. A Higher Degree is very impressive on the CV and those with a passion for research can use this as a stepping stone to undertake a PhD or MD in the future as many before you have done. It will also help application to higher training posts.

Quote from previous student

“Undertaking this masters in surgical innovation, was a brilliant idea. This MSc has cultivated an interest within me that I continue to take forwards in my career as a registrar in trauma & orthopaedics. It has allowed me at depth, to delve into multiple facets of innovation within surgery. This has been particularly interesting for me when combining surgical education with technology and exploring the potential platforms, such as virtual and augmented realities. Most importantly this course has challenged me”
